If I could adapt any book onto screen it would be True Believer by Nicholas Sparks. This might be one of my favorite books of all time. It is an amazing story filled with mystery, romance, and a good amount of twists and turns. It would make the perfect movie.
I have had this idea before and when I did, these actors were younger, but my ideal cast would be Reese Witherspoon as Lexie, John Cusack as Jeremy and Betty White as Lexie's grandmother.
It would be very hard to decide which parts of the novel to cut out, especially since I have not read it in quite some time. Even though they are an integral part of the story, I'm sure some instances about the "lights" can be trimmed down. Stories about Jeremy's past paranormal cases could also be lost.
The soundtrack to this movie would be right up my alley...well of course since I am making it up. Very soothing and romantic songs would make up most of the movie with its title song written and sung by John Mayer. I would also love to have an Adele track on the album. There would have to be a couple of mysterious tracks and I think Florence + the Machine would be great for that.
My two sentence summary: In a tale of mystery, miracles and love, Jeremey Marsh and Lexie Darnell find their ways back to themselves and to each other. It is a tale that will make you believe in the miracle of love.
